ARE YOU A MOM? - I need your opinion please...?
I just started working at a portrait studio and I am the only male. We mostly photograph young kids. Infants are very common; probably around 50%. As a male being trained by females, it's hard for me to figure out ways to make babies smile. It's always easy for my female co-workers since they are more comfortable playing peek-a-boo and talking in high pitched baby voices. That's just not really my style. I'm great with kids and I'm not uncomfortable around them but the only way I've learned to make a baby smile is by me acting like a goof ball, which usually involves flailing my arms around and mimicking what the baby is doing. Obviously, flailing of the arms wont be possible while holding a camera, so I am at a loss.
How can a straight guy make a baby smile without sounding like a girl?
