Question about Septum piercings, pressure points, and culture?
I have read a little on the history of the septum piercing with the Native American Nez Perc tribe and the women of Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. I read somewhere that it may have been done for health reasons or pressure points.
For instance, the more common nose ring on the side of the nostril may have an effect of lessening the pain of menstrual cycles (not proven though).
But what about the septum piercing? Anyone know?
